MULTI-MEDIA PROGRAM FOR TEENS

SET TO LAUNCH JANUARY 25 , 2012

Appleseed Academy, a youth arts program of Atonement Ministries (116 West Glen Ave,  Syracuse), is accepting students in grades 9 through 12 for an upcoming "multi-media" evening program, led by Artist in Residence and Curator of The Tech Garden, Ty Marshal.

There is no charge for Appleseed Academy, which runs from Wed. January 25th - April 14th 2012. The session will culminate with a live performance/presentation in a self directed, organic arts experience.

Program Coordinator Ty Marshal said, “Appleseed Academy is a great opportunity for students in grades 9 - 12 interested in exploring the intersection of the arts and technology in a multi-media driven format."

Students will learn the concepts and theories of film-making, script writing, live performance, promotion and graphic design, while promoting understanding, tolerance, diversity and community-mindedness in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

“We are excited at such a strong opportunity to connect with the youth in our neighborhood, city and county,” said Mark Allen Holt, Director of Performing Arts for The Atonement Ministries.

Marshall and Holt are joined by fellow faculty Darian Sundberg, an SU graduate with an M.S. in Art Education, and Jeffrey LaDuca, a youth and technical theater director with Appleseed Productions.

Appleseed Academy is currently accepting students for the first session beginning on Wednesday January 25th, 2012. Sessions will run weekly on Wednesdays through April 14th, 2012.
